Flute player adventures
This was a great event with lots of wonderful energy and great people celebrating the intriguing history of Nanaimo. It’s nice to see an event embrace the roots of its community. It’s also nice when an event like this chooses to celebrate the local talent in the community providing a spot for local musical artists, story tellers and artisans to share their talent with an enthusiastic audience. Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island is a great place to call home.
A real highlight for Wind Weaver was the sneak performance that we offered to a visitor to the island from New York who would not be able to stay to hear us play…..so we took her off to a place behind my flute sales tent and gave her a sneak preview of our music.
Music offers an opportunity for people to connect from so many different places in surprising ways. We were delighted to share our music with Nancy from New York.( Hi Nancy). For me it was a double pleasure as she is just beginning her flute playing journey. I maintain a belief that Native American Style Flutes are bringing people together, building a common bond and a stronger sense of connection.
From the west coast of Canada to the East Coast of the United States, the flutes have forged another connection in this magical world that we live in. I just love these flutes.
Thank You Coaltown Festival for a great event!

Flute player adventures

At a Native American Flute Festival you get to see many great flute makers and of course try out the beautiful flutes. Dennis Lombard, of Mountain Flutes is one of my most favorite flute makers. For me his flutes have pure sound and a real connection to spirit and they sing joyfully. Seeing him at Flute Quest was a real treat and a great opportunity to thank him for his great flutes.
Oh, I just can’t wait until the next flute event.

Flute player adventures

For a person who plays the Native American Flute, sharing your music at a Flute Festival dedicated to the Native American Flute is a real thrill.
For this event Paul was unable to attend and so I was able to use the beautiful guitar tracks through the magic of technology. Paul became the guitar
player in the box ( so to speak) and it was great fun introducing him as the man in the box.
The Saturday evening concert featuring Mary Youngblood, two time grammy award winner and Gary Stroutsos was inspiring. Both are beautiful
musical artists.

Flute player adventures
Once again I am heading off to the Zion Canyon Drum and Flute festival.
For a player of Native American Flutes, this is a very exciting gathering.
Not only is there a multitude of wonderful sounding flutes to sample
and dream of owning there is an amazing number of flute players
who are just overflowing with enthusiasm and wonderful music
to chat with.
Listening to other’s share there music is a real highlight of
a Native American Flute Festival. Terry Mack is one of
the few Canadians who ventures down to this festival.
I will be performing on Friday, May 15th from 12:30 to
1:00 PM at the open mic stage.
