THOUGHT ON CREATING WILD THREADS

Posted by admin     Category: Wild Threads CD
Setting out to make our CD “Wild Threads”, there was one basic principle we wanted to stay focused on: To capture the simple elegance of the music we had created. That meant staying focused on honoring the spirit of the music and avoiding unnecessary embellishment. Most songs are simply played with Flute and Guitar.
When we were inspired to embellish we did so only after asking the question “Does this serve the music ? ” Percussion and Bass are a natural and primal musical element. They are the voice of rhythm and dance. They help the listener to physically synchronize with the music. Other acoustic voices, like the rain stick, Tibetan tone bowls, and stone chimes were added simply because we listened to the voice of inspiration. A baby’s laugh, crickets, owls, waves on a beach, wind, fog horns and other emotive sounds from the natural world were used for some songs to set a background canvas against which the music unfolds.
All the instruments used are acoustic and without unnatural effects allowing the music to be played by anyone anywhere. We have our own personal joy in creating and playing the music. Our intention now is that the CD will provide the  listener with a soul nourishing escape from a frantic and noisy world.
